PUBLIC POLICY
The Child Care Planning Committee (Planning Committee) and the Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development (Roundtable) promotes policies designed to increase the availability of and access to affordable, high quality early care and education programs for all children and their families of Los Angeles County.
Joint Committee on Legislation
Meeting Schedule & Materials
The Joint Committee on Legislation was formed by the Child Care Planning Committee (Planning Committee) and the Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development (Policy Roundtable) to inform on federal, state and local policy initiatives as they impact the County of Los Angeles and early care and education services available for Los Angeles County families. The Joint Committee on Legislation monitors state and federal legislation and budgets and guides the development of recommended positions on selected bills and the Governor’s budget and May revise for proposal to the Board of Supervisors by the Policy Roundtable. It also advises annual updates to the County’s state and federal legislative agendas.

Joint Committee on Legislation meets In- Person on the third Wednesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Joint Committee on Legislation meetings are open to the public.
Meeting agendas are posted at least 72 hours prior to each monthly meeting. Supporting materials from the previous month are generally posted within one week following the meeting.

Public Policy Platform
Each year the Child Care Planning Committee and Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development prepares a public policy platform that reflects current and emerging policy issues in early care and education.
Public Policy Platform 2021-22 Legislative Agenda
The public policy platform items form the basis for the County’s State Legislative Agenda items relating to “child care and child development” and contributes to items on early care and education built into the County’s Federal Agenda.
LA County State Legislative Agenda
Generally by mid to late December, the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors adopts the State Legislative Agenda for the upcoming session.
