LAC ECE Response Team Community Call
Every Thursday, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
The L.A. County Early Childhood Education (LAC ECE) Response Team is holding Community Calls regarding the Los Angeles wildfire emergency. As we move forward together to serve our youngest children, early care and education providers and community members are invited to learn about the latest guidance for child care environments, updates to early care and education policies, the availability of supplies to operate safely, and how to access additional resources.

LA County Recovers: For essential information and LA County resources to support families impacted by wildfires
- Los Angeles County Emergency Incident Response consists of real time evacuation, shelter, and other information
- Department of Public Health: Fire, Safety and Health Information: The Department of Public Health has resources on Fire Safety and Health Information. The information is in English and Spanish focused on safe clean-up after fires, food safety tips, power outages, and mental health support.
- Los Angeles County Smoke Advisory: The LA County Health Officer issued a Smoke Advisory press release due to the unhealthy air quality. The advisory includes helpful guidance for schools from the California Department of Education.
- Los Angeles Department of Public Health: Essential information and resources to support families impacted by wildfires.

FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers
Two FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers will open tomorrow in Los Angeles County to assist Californians who experienced damage to their primary home, personal property loss or have disaster-caused emergency needs related to the wildfires. At the center, people can get help applying for federal assistance, speak to representatives from state and federal agencies, receive updates on their FEMA application for assistance and learn about the appeals process. Hours and locations are as follows:

What is individual assistance?
- Individual assistance consists of multiple federal programs to help disaster survivors start to recover. These programs include, but are not limited to advanced financial assistance, housing and rental assistance, funds for repair / replacement of damaged homes, disaster legal services, disaster unemployment assistance and other needs assistance.
Support for Small Business:
- Assistance for small businesses available through the federal Small Business Administration (SBA)
- Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity:
- Submitting insurance claims, signing up for no-cost legal aid, accessing capital and other resources, including grants and loans as well as local, state, and federal contracting opportunities. The DEO Office of Small Business hosts a Small Business Concierge helps with information and technical assistance, financial resources, and referrals to partner organizations for programs and services.

Weekly Fire Relief Distribution Center for Early Care and Education (ECE) Providers at Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena
In collaboration with the Office for the Advancement of Early Care and Education, Pacific Oaks College, Options for Learning, the Child Care Alliance of Los Angeles, and other local partners, ECE providers are invited to pick up free relief supplies.
Available Supplies:
- Air purifiers
- Diapers & baby formula
- Masks & personal protective equipment
- Toiletries & hygiene products
Supplies are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while available.
Additional Support:
Staff will be on-site to share information about community resources that can help with wildfire recovery.

In collaboration with the Office for the Advancement of Early Care and Education, Connections for Children, the City of Santa Monica, the City of Los Angeles, the Child Care Alliance of Los Angeles, and other local partners, ECE providers are invited to pick up free relief supplies.
Available Supplies:

- Masks & personal protective equipment

Child Care
Care Camp
To support families impacted by the Eaton fire, LA County Parks Care Camps will provide youth and teens with a supportive space for fun and recreation including music, arts and crafts, sports activities and field trips to the LA County Natural History Museum, La Brea Tar Pits, Dodger Stadium, & more. Breakfast, snacks, and lunch will be provided daily; teens will also get supper.
Monday – Friday, Jan. 13 – Jan. 31, 2025
YOUTH CAMPS AGE 5-12: 8 am to 5 pm
TEEN CAMPS AGE 13-17: 8 am to 7 pm
For those under mandatory evacuation or significantly impacted by the fires.

The Y is pleased to offer free child care for children of first responders, essential workers and families who have been displaced, evacuated or who have otherwise experienced loss. This program is being offered at no-cost.
