POLICY ROUNDTABLE
The Office for the Advancement of Early Care and Education, Child Care Planning Committee, and Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development share a united vision and mission:
Vision – Children are healthy, thriving and have equitable opportunities to achieve optimal development and succeed in life.
Mission – The Los Angeles County Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development builds and strengthens early care and education by providing recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on policy, systems, and infrastructure improvement.
Policy Roundtable Commissioners FY 2024-25
The Roundtable was established by the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors on March 21, 2001. There are 25 Commission members representing the collective experience, expertise and wisdom of community leaders in early childhood, education, business, economics and research and County departments representing child welfare, mental health, probation, public health, and parks and recreation.
All Commissioners are appointed by the Board of Supervisors.

Policy Roundtable meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Policy Roundtable meetings are open to the public.
Policy Roundtable Meeting Schedule Fiscal Year 2024-25 – To confirm the meeting schedule and verify locations, check this website or contact the Office for the Advancement of Early Care and Education at (213) 639-6202.
Meeting agendas are posted at least 72 hours prior to each monthly meeting. Approved minutes and supporting materials from the previous month are generally posted within one week following the meeting.

Meeting Packets for 2017-18
The Joint Committee on Legislation was formed by the Child Care Planning Committee (Planning Committee) and the Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development (Policy Roundtable) to inform on federal, state and local policy initiatives as they impact the County of Los Angeles and early care and education services available for Los Angeles County families. The Joint Committee on Legislation monitors state and federal legislation and budgets and guides the development of recommended positions on selected bills and the Governor’s budget and May revise for proposal to the Board of Supervisors by the Policy Roundtable. It also advises annual updates to the County’s state and federal legislative agendas.

Public Policy Platform
Each year the Child Care Planning Committee and Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development prepares a public policy platform that reflects current and emerging policy issues in early care and education.
Public Policy Platform 2021-22 Legislative Agenda
The public policy platform items form the basis for the County’s State Legislative Agenda items relating to “child care and child development” and contributes to items on early care and education built into the County’s Federal Agenda.
LA County State Legislative Agenda
Generally by mid to late December, the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors adopts the State Legislative Agenda for the upcoming session.
